Cracked wheel Welding
Pro Alloys have the latest Tig welding equipment and experienced staff to asset in repairing cracked wheels that need welding of any make and size.
We repair cracked wheels on a daily basis due to kerb damage but of late we've seen a big increase in wheels that have cracks or buckles from pot whole damage due to the poor road surface.
With today’s low profiles and the pot holes in our roads this often shows up as an MOT failure or the customer thinking they have a slow puncture, in fact its air escaping through the crack or buckle in the wheel rim.
We can repair wheels that you might think are to bad so always check with us, this can save the customer hundreds of pounds over the cost of a new wheel.
Prices start at £56 + vat per crack if the wheel is brought in before 10am and collected after 4pm the same day.
We also offer a while you wait service for £76 +vat by prior arrangement, spaces are limited so don't delay and call today!
The customer arrives with their wheel, we can either remove the wheel from their car or the customer can bring the wheel into us.
We offer a drive in drive out service by prior arrangement making this a much less time consuming job.
Once the wheel is removed a technician will remove the tyre and inspect the crack in the wheel, its then be passed on to the prep bay were work will start on the repair.
Before welding the crack we will fully remove all paint and corrosion, we also cut a small section away and remove the fractured alloy. Once the damaged area is fully cleaned and prepped the wheel is welded with a Tig welder, this insures a very strong and neat weld.
Once the wheel has cooled we remove any excess weld on the inside and reshape to the original profile of the wheel, this allows the tyre to seal correctly.
The outer edge will not be re-shaped making the weld stronger, it will be spryed to stop corrosion or we can paint the whole wheel at extra cost should the customer wish.
Once the paint is dry the tyre will be re-fitted and balanced.
If the car has been left with us the wheel is re-fitted and the wheel nuts set to the correct torque.
This is all in price so no surprises!
